NORTHERN ARIZONA INDIAN LANDS

We have designed a tour through the northern part of Arizona to visit the reservation lands of the Hopi and Navajo for a group of students from the Meiji Gakuin University in Yokohama, Japan. This will be our second season to work with these wonderful people. It has been a great experience for us, and we thought it might make a great opportunity for some of you as well. We have made a lot of great contacts and become friends with many people on the reservations who have invited us to return any time.  The tour will include:

Well known Hopi potters and Katsina makers

A personal visit to a typical with a lunch on the farm

A ceremonial dance (depending on the schedule of the Hopi)

Top of the line Navajo jewelry makers and rug weavers

A visit to a Navajo home in Ft Defiance to learn about the use of native herbs and plants in cooking and healing, eat a delightful home made Navajo meal

See Canyon de Chelly and Monument Valley

Visit to the White River Apache Reservation on return. We may be able to witness a changing woman ceremony

Explore some of the best pre-Columbian ruins such as Wupatki, Besh-Ba-Gowah, or Kinishba

SOUTHERN INDIA
Image coming soon! We are still in the early planning stages, but we thought we wouldgive you a heads up. We are researching some incredible places tovisit in the southern part of India around Goa.  Marshall's grandfather was born in Ratnagiri, India, and there is a lot of family history in this colorful region. We are looking at amazing historical sites, ancient temples, dynastic history, fabulous beaches, beautiful scenery, wildlife preserves and natural history.  Maybe we will tie in an elephant ride and a tiger viewing safari. We will visit parts of India not usually explored by tours to the area, so you will be in for a unique adventure. Let us know if youare interested and we will keep you apprised!
